travel section, May Travel, where we provide travel news, advice, deals as well as other
related tourist services. We strive to serve the varied needs of our reader groups, co-
operators and supporters by offering unique tourist programs and services in Canada
and globally, while continuing to promote cultural and economic exchanges and trade
between Canada and China as well as among other countries.
The Position:
May Travel-CCN Media is looking for a highly experienced tourism marketing specialist
to lead the development and implementation of revenue generating tourist programs as
well as the creative development and implementation of effective marketing strategies
to drive the growth of May Travel in Canada and around the world.
Main Duties:
Works with corporate directors to set business plan and strategic goals according
to visitor profiles and develop tourist programs and packages focused on a unique
experience for group segments.
Advises management of developments that may affect profit and costs.
Builds strategic partnership with travel agencies in Greater China and globally.
Generates innovative strategies to promote tourist products and services to
business groups, travel agents, tour operators, and receptive operators.
Develops a marketing plan targeting the tourists’ segment; develop co-op
opportunities for organizers and hotels to maximize resources and effectiveness.
Acts as principal contact to tour organizers, hotels and transportation companies.
Provides exceptional customer service. Negotiates terms and conditions of
services and competitive pricing.
Identifies new business development opportunities, products, services, events, and other activities.
Efficiently manage corporate-developed tourism marketing initiatives, including
traditional and digital strategies, social media strategies and email marketing
strategies, directing marketing efforts related to destinations, deals, and tours,
etc.
Represents May Travel at trade shows, sales missions, and client events.
Creates new materials to support seasonal campaigns and overall destination
marketing efforts.
Implements strategic metrics to gauge the effectiveness of all marketing programs.
Engages with corporate marketing teams at other locations to exchange ideas,
best practices, and lessons learned.
Proposes new ideas to improve marketing and sales planning and
implementation processes.
Partners with Management & Safety team to help ensure the safety of staff and
guests during tours.
Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
At least 5 years of tourism industry experience, particularly in the capacity of
business development and marketing.
College degree preferred, particularly in the hotel, marketing, public relations or
communications.
Comprehensive knowledge and awareness of tourism business opportunities and
issues from global, national, regional and local perspectives.
Demonstrated knowledge of market research and communication strategy in the
tourism business.
Experience in tracking and analyzing key metrics such as engagement and
response.
Proven ability in maintaining a profile in the travel industry through associations,
committees, and marketing cooperatives; travel and participate in industry
networking and educational activities.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Knowledge of social networks, online communities in the hospitality industry,
content management systems and relevant mobile applications.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Excellent writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Deadline and detail oriented, ability to deal with multiple and concurrent
programs.
Valid driver license and willing to travel.
TICO supervisor/manager certification will be an asset.
Terms of Employment:
Full Time, Permanent.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Salary and Compensation:
$28-$33 per hour depending on qualification and experience.
Two weeks’ vacation.
